How We Started
In 1953, two recent graduates, Jonathan Cleave and Jacob Pierce, founded Cleave Labs in an effort to further the research done by the post-war medical scientists in the 1940s. Along with many of their former friends from college and medical school who shared their dream, Cleave and Pierce brought the concept of laser surgery to the masses. Since then, Cleave Labs has strived to pioneer more advanced and better quality medical technology, specifically in the field of surgery.

Jonathan Cleave
Jonathan Cleave founded Cleave Labs in 1953 with Jacob Pierce. Born in 1923, Cleave graduated high school in 1941, and was fascinated by the technological breakthroughs happening within the decade. After completing his degree, he began working as a surgeon, then in engineering, before finally deciding to start his own business along with Pierce.
Jacob Pierce
Jacob Pierce founded Cleave Labs in 1953 along with Jonathan Cleave. Born in 1922, Pierce is a talented bioengineer. Pierce along with Cleave put their knowledge together to create this company.
